Professor Joseph Falzon is a distinguished economist and academic, holding a Ph.D. in economics from Northwestern University, USA. As the founding Head of the Department of Banking and Finance and former Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Management, and Accountancy at the University of Malta, he has made significant contributions to the field. His extensive research spans hedge fund strategies, portfolio management, and economic development, with numerous publications to his name.
Professor Falzon has provided expert consultancy to leading Maltese organizations, including the Ministry of Finance, Central Bank of Malta, and Malta Tourism Authority. He has also served on the boards of several financial institutions and governmental bodies, including Enemalta and the Malta Statistics Authority. Currently, he is the Deputy Chairman of the Malta Stock Exchange and an active member of investment committees, offering his expertise in risk and portfolio management.
