National Numbering Agency
The Malta Stock Exchange is a member of the “Association of National Numbering Agencies” ANNA (http://www.anna-web.com), which is an international organisation fully committed to proactively promoting, implementing, maintaining and making available, standards for securities and related financial instruments, in a uniform and accurate structure for the benefit of their home markets and of the securities industry as a whole.
Registration and maintenance of international standards under ANNA’s responsibility, is enacted according to rules and regulations set out by the International Organization for Standardization ISO.
As a member of A.N.N.A., the Malta Stock Exchange is the only recognised national numbering agency (NNA), for Malta. In its role as the NNA, the Malta Stock Exchange is committed to issue International Securities Identification Numbers (ISINs) in accordance with ISO 6166, which standard provides a uniform structure for international securities identification numbers. The ISIN is intended for use in any application in the trading and administration of securities and other financial instruments . ISINs are therefore required for any financial instrument which is registered in Malta and not just for financial instruments which have been admitted to listing or trading on the Malta Stock Exchange.
Application For ISIN
There are three different ISIN application forms:
The appropriate form should be filled in with all the relevant details of the security for which the ISIN is being requested. Please note that in case of Collective Investment Schemes a separate application must be completed for each Fund/sub-fund/ class where applicable. Additionally all applications must also be accompanied by a copy of the final prospectus. Where it is not possible to submit a final prospectus, a draft will be accepted provided that the applicant takes full responsibility to ensure that the final copy of the approved prospectus is submitted as soon as it becomes available. Applicants are also expected to ensure that any updates to the original information such as a change in the name of the financial instrument, changes in the structre and redemptions, are submitted to the NNA as soon as they become effective. Applications may be made by e-mail at [email protected].
